Memo Text

At its July meeting, the State Board of Education approved an additional option for special education and alternative learning teachers to demonstrate content knowledge as required by Arkansas Qualified Teacher (AQT) rules. The Praxis® Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge (5511) with a minimum score of 148 is an assessment for licensed K-12 special education teachers and K-12 alternative learning environment (ALE) educators to demonstrate content knowledge in the area of qualification. K-12 special education and K-12 ALE teachers who successfully pass the 5511 will be qualified under AQT to teach multiple core subjects.

This assessment will not be used for licensure endorsements or certifications but only for meeting AQT requirements in the above circumstances.

Information about the Praxis® Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge (5511) can be accessed from Educational Testing Service’s web page: https://www.ets.org/praxis/prepare/materials/5511.
