On September 4, 2018, Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced that the teachers holding the 528 Computer Science Endorsement on their Arkansas Educator’s License would have their first-time standard license application and the renewal application fees reimbursed.

Arkansas educators holding the 528 endorsement must continue to meet all professional development and background check requirements for renewal. All educators must complete the full process to apply for and renew their Arkansas Educator’s License as required by regulation/law.

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Office of Computer Science is pleased to outline the processes by which a teacher may receive a reimbursement of fees for first-time standard license applications and renewal applications.

After an Arkansas educator completes the first-time standard license application or the renewal application process for an Arkansas Educator’s license that includes a 528 Computer Science endorsement, the teacher should complete the 528 Computer Science Arkansas License Application/Renewal Fee Reimbursement Form found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7CQ8MM2.

The funding for these reimbursements is being provided by the ADE Office of Computer Science, and continuation of this reimbursement program is subject to the availability of funds appropriated by legislative act.

Reimbursements are available to all Arkansas educators who have submitted a fee for a first-time standard license application or a renewal application, that included a 528 Computer Science endorsement on the application, since July 1, 2018.
