IDEA Data & Research at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in conjunction with ADE Special Education Unit will host the 2019 Disproportionality Institute on April 24 and 25, 2019, at the Holiday Inn Airport Conference Center. Please see the attached flyers for hotel and program details.
Dr. Edward Fergus is the guest speaker and each registered district will receive a copy of his book, Solving Disproportionality and Achieving Equity: A Leader′s Guide to Using Data to Change Hearts and Minds.
Day 1, April 24, 2019, is by invitation only. Invitations will be sent by March 1, 2019, and will have a separate registration.
Day 2, April 25, 2019, is open to all districts. Districts are encouraged to have at least one administrator in attendance. Districts who are required to complete the disproportionality self-assessment for special education are encouraged to bring two administrators.
Day 2 will have a nominal registration fee of $25.00 per person.
Registration is open and closes on April 15. 2019. Registration will use the Arkansas Special Education Training Information System (ASTIS) located at https://arksped.k12.ar.us/Applications/ASTIS/. Links are provided in the Upcoming Events Box on the site or you can use the calendar by clicking on the date and selecting the event. Each person must register separately.
A registration reminder email will be sent to superintendents and special education supervisors in early March 2019.
