Memo Text

Pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. § 6-10-119, by May 1 of each year, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) shall identify school districts that are under-performing in the area of direct-service Medicaid billing. The ADE Medicaid in the Schools (MITS) Office will consider the following to determine a district’s Medicaid billing status:

  • The reimbursement amount paid to the district for Speech Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy direct-service billing from July 1, 2018, to December 31, 2018, in respect to the district’s Special Education count, County Medicaid Rate, and past therapy billing rates per discipline.

ADE MITS will conduct a preliminary review of information obtained from the FY2019 LEA Quarterly Match Reports provided by the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Medical Services (DMS). Districts identified as under-performing for direct-service Medicaid billing will be issued a letter serving as the official notification of status.

The MITS staff will connect with school officials and service providers to offer technical assistance for under-performing billing areas. Contact the MITS office at 501-683-3604 for more information or with any questions.
