1 Mbps/USER APSCN
HIGH-SPEED BROADBAND UPGRADE
Arkansas is
poised to propel the high-speed broadband capacity provided to K-12 school
districts, charter schools, and education service cooperatives across the state by up to five
times that of current speeds with a cost comparable to current bandwidth
rates.
Some fiber
placement construction and replacement of network hardware will be required.
Therefore, completion of the network upgrade has a tentative forecast of July 1,
2021. The amplified APSCN high-speed internet capacity of 1 Mbps/user will
provide students and educators with the ability to execute a media-rich digital
curriculum that consists of internet browsing, online testing, video
collaboration, video streaming remote instruction and more.
In collaboration and partnership with the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education Research and Technology Team and the Department of Information Systems APSCN LAN Support Services, we will be reaching out to districts in an effort to coordinate bandwidth upgrades throughout the school year.
If you have questions concerning upgrades please direct them to the DIS APSCN LAN Support Services Team - Kristina Cross (kristina.cross@arkansas.gov) or the DIS Enterprise Network Services/E-rate Director - Don McDaniel (don.mcdaniel@arkansas.gov).
