The Arkansas Department of Education Office of Computer Science is pleased to announce the Arkansas Computer Science Educator of the Year award cycle for the 2020-2021 school year. This award is open to anyone holding an Arkansas Educator’s License who is currently working in a K-12 Public School or Public Charter School and demonstrates a strong commitment to and substantial impact on the CS initiative in their school and community.

Five finalists will be selected from the applicants, each will receive $2,500.00. From that five, one will be selected as the Arkansas Computer Science Educator of 2021, and receive an additional $12,500.00 award.

“I was honored to be chosen as the 2020 Arkansas Computer Science Educator of the Year. Being a part of one of the leading states in the country for Computer Science initiatives has been the most exciting aspect of my educational career,” says Sean Gray Computer Science Teacher and Head Softball Coach at Marion High School. “I highly encourage all Computer Science teachers in Arkansas to apply for the Arkansas Computer Science Educator of the Year. It is not only a significant honor for the winner, but it is an opportunity to share your successes in the classroom and help to inspire other teachers across the state. Given the times we are in, it is even more crucial to recognize your hard work as I know teachers are innovating in ways we never dreamed of to reach all of our students, virtual and in person. There has never been a better time to hear about teacher success!”

Eligible educators may apply at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ARCSEOY2021 through the end of February 2021. The five finalists will be selected and announced by the end of March, and the winner will be announced in May 2021.
