Memo Text

The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is excited to announce open seats are available for all schools to send a team of five to the 1003 Summer Training for teachers in July 2021.

Each school can send a teacher team, of no more than five, to the "Teaming: Collaborative Practices at Work with Bill Ferriter”.  This training will be held at the Hot Springs Convention Center, 134 Convention Center Blvd. Hot Springs, AR 71901. Training will occur on July 6-8, 2021; July 12-14, 2021; July 19-21, 2021.  Around 200 seats are available for each week.

Schools will have the opportunity to send up to three teams (5 members per team, one team each week)  to a three day guided workshop built around the tools for strengthening a collaborative team.  They will receive “The Big Book of Tools for Collaborative Teams in a PLC at Work” by Bill Ferriter.  Teams will be guided through the toolkit to assess where they are in the learning process and identify immediate needs for growth. This workshop provides the nuts and bolts for the right work, while emphasizing the why and how.  Culture, norms, collegial practices, and the four critical questions of a learning team will be reviewed so that each team may build an action plan for their immediate needs and data goals.

Pre-registration is now open by emailing Renee’ Holland with how many teams your building would like to send and what week.  She will then send you the proper link for your team to register individually.  Cost is free for the registration but the travel and lodging is the responsibility of the district.

The deadline for the pre-registration list is May 12th.  Please email Renee’ Holland with your response.
