Memo Text

On August 6, 2021, the DESE Division of Research and Technology announced the transition and rebranding of Team Digital to the DESE Digital Learning Unit. Beginning with the addition of State Coordinator of Digital Learning Kirsten Wilson in June 2021, a shift in the focus and direction of the unit was established.

Since the rebranding, the Digital Learning Unit has been working to establish relationships across the state with Education Service Cooperatives, school districts, administrators, and teachers. We have eight digital learning specialists assigned to serve the regional ESCs, an assistant state coordinator, and a technical support specialist. Although specialists are assigned to specific regions, the entire Digital Learning Unit uses their collective knowledge and expertise to address specific needs and provide the best possible support.

We support districts and schools as they adopt online providers and design their own online content to ensure the best digital learning experience for students. We educate stakeholders on best digital learning practices as well as support districts in the creation and implementation of their digital learning plans. We also partner with digital learning entities to support the innovative implementation of quality digital content and professional learning.

Additionally, the Digital Learning Unit can provide support for the following:

  • Evaluating effective online instruction and program
  • Creating effective PLC-designed Collaborative Team meetings with both in-person and virtual teachers
  • Addressing the different levels of HRS district need
  • Designing an effective guaranteed viable online curriculum

The DESE Digital Learning Unit is a free resource delivered with and through the education cooperatives to provide guidance, support, and training for digital and blended learning. Assistance and training cover a wide variety of digital learning resources. To learn more or partner with the Digital Learning Unit, email contactus@teamdigital.org or call 870-730-2924.
