Memo Text
The Division of Elementary & Secondary Education and the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators are partnering to present the Arkansas Privacy & Security Forum on January 27-28, 2022 in Little Rock, AR.
The coronavirus pandemic forced instruction to move to remote learning while rapidly accelerating technology use in education. This brought educational technology into the spotlight and also highlighted the rising cyberattacks on school districts of all sizes.
Advances in educational technology are also accompanied by concerns about how education data are being collected and used, increasing the need to strengthen written agreements. According to The State of K-12 Cybersecurity: 2020 Year in Review, "At least 75% of all data breaches affecting K-12 school district were the result of security incidents involving school district vendors and other partners."
The forum is intended to assist superintendents and other district leaders with developing privacy policies and security plans. Topics will include:
>Risk Assessment
>Incident Response
>Strengthening Written Agreements
>Vetting Classroom Apps
>Staff Training
