Memo Text

The Arkansas Department of Education has partnered with Educators Rising, Arkansas Institutions of Higher Education, and Education Service Cooperatives to host regional pre-collegiate educator recruitment events. Data shows that 60% of teachers work 20 miles from where they graduated high school. Therefore, the goal of these events is to ignite a passion for the education profession in high school students, which will in turn strengthen district teacher recruitment and retention efforts. Events are free and are open to active level Educators Rising members. This year’s Regional Events start Nov. 18, 2021 and end on Jan. 28, 2022.

Events include interactive breakout sessions where students will hear from leaders in education, as well as competitions that allow students to showcase their knowledge and skills. The application window for Educators Rising student leadership positions will be open during regional events and student officers will be announced at the state conference on April 5, 2022.

Competitors will receive a chance to have their registration for the Educators Rising National Conference paid so they can compete at the National Conference in Washington, DC. For registration information and to learn more about each regional event, including what breakout sessions and competitions will be offered at each region, click this link: 21-22 EdRising Regional Events. Registration links are also available in the attached PDF.
