Memo Text

The Arkansas Co-Teaching Project, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Technology in Education (CTE), is offering a year-long, blended co-teaching professional development package.  This professional development is appropriate for the following:

• Schools implementing the co-teaching model for the first time
• Schools interested in improving an existing co-teaching program
• Schools that have participated in previous professional development through this project and are interested in   continuing that support

The Boundless Learning Co-Teaching (BLC) Package includes two face-to-face professional development sessions, monthly virtual support meetings, online facilitated instructional modules, an electronic professional learning community, onsite coaching visits, virtual administrative support meetings, and an implementation evaluation process with a one-year commitment.

This professional development is designed to strengthen the inclusive practice of co-teaching by using high leverage practices in order to provide sufficient support to students with disabilities in the general education classroom.  General and special educators learn how to work together to build a co-teaching partnership in which each member is clear about the team’s mission, goals, and roles, and is able to effectively co-plan, co-instruct, and co-assess so that students reach their academic and social-emotional learning goals. Principals, assistant principals, and instructional facilitators learn how to provide ongoing support to BLC co-teachers through focused online learning modules. A principal or designated assistant principal will be named the Boundless Learning Leader and will be responsible for supporting and facilitating the learning within the school.

Principals, designated assistant principals, and instructional facilitators have the opportunity to earn a micro-credential badge from Johns Hopkins University’s CTE and the Arkansas Co-Teaching Project for completing the requirements of the package.

Visit the Arkansas Co-Teaching Project for a more detailed description of the Boundless Learning Co-Teaching professional development package, session dates, and fee information. The Arkansas Co-Teaching Project can accommodate only a limited number of schools; therefore, applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received. Applications for the 2022-2023 school year will be available on the website beginning April 1, 2022, with a deadline of April 29, 2022.
