Arkansas school districts are reminded that effective January 1, 2023, the State of Arkansas will change to the IBC (International Building Code) 2021, which will supersede IBC 2012.  This will apply to all new construction for Group E occupancies including new schools, and additions and total renovations, where applicable.

Per Sec. 423.5, all Group E occupancies with an occupant load of 50 or more shall have a storm shelter constructed in accordance with ICC 500.
