Memo Text

The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is pleased to announce a partnership with Novak Education to build inclusive education for students with disabilities by implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL), multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), evidence-based tiered interventions, and effective leadership practices.  DESE invites districts to submit an application to participate in this year-long opportunity called Effective Practices for Inclusive Education for students with disabilities (EPIE).  Up to fifty districts will be chosen to participate.  The only cost to districts will be travel to Little Rock and meal expenses for two in-person summits.

Teams from selected districts will participate in –
• An in-person kick-off summit in September 2023
• A monthly webinar leadership series
• A monthly webinar series for district professional development providers
• An in person closing summit in May 2024

Details of the project and all required actions may be found here.

The application may be accessed here, and the deadline for submission is May 26, 2023.

Questions about the project may be sent to Robin Stripling at robin.stripling@ade.arkansas.gov.
