The Arkansas Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is excited to share that applications are now open for school districts interested in participating in Cohort 6 of the THRIVE AR Leadership Academy. This academy, spanning 9 days, is specifically tailored for building leaders such as counselors, educators, and administrators. Its main objective is to equip participants with the necessary skills to effectively lead a team at the building level. This team will address the behavioral and mental health needs of students across K-12 learning environments. The approach centers on implementing a multi-tiered system of supports that places emphasis on positive behavior supports and data-driven decision-making.
Successfully completing the THRIVE Leadership Academy will result in an endorsement being added to the participant's
teaching license. Additionally, participants who successfully complete the academy and portfolio will receive a stipend of
$2500 for their commitment and achievement.
Due to space limitations, we encourage you to promptly submit your application by 4:30 PM, Friday, January 12, 2024.
DESE will notify Cohort 6 participants by January 31st of their acceptance. These notifications will include information about
the subsequent steps and important details for the academy.
We look forward to welcoming motivated educators into Cohort 6 as they embark on this enriching journey to enhance their
leadership skills and make a positive impact on the behavioral and mental health support systems in their schools.
