The
Division of Elementary
and Secondary Education (DESE) Rules Governing Required Training For School
Board Members states that “a school district shall maintain
a record of hours of training and instruction for board members” (Section
7.01). A statement of the hours of
training and instruction obtained by each board member in the preceding year
shall be made a part of the annual school performance report (School Report
Card) required under Ark. Code Ann. § 6-15-1402. The names of school board members and their
training hours obtained from January 1 through December 31, 2023, must be
included for each school district.
The
School Board Training Hours data collection is within the ADE Statewide
Information System (SIS) application for Cycle 5 data collection using the SIS
LEA Profile module. Please be sure to
add, modify, and/or delete the School Board Training Hours as applicable for
your district on the ADE SIS website.
The SIS website is available at the following location: https://sis.ade.arkansas.gov. Please coordinate with your APSCN/SIS Cycle
Coordinator to submit the School Board Training Hours data sets. On the
website, go to Update Data Tab, click on LEA Profile hyperlink, and select
Cycle 5 School Board Training Hours to update the information. You can start updating the data now (on-going
Cycle 4) and do not have to wait until Cycle 5 begins. The School Board
Training Hours data collection end date is February 15, 2024, which coincides
with the Cycle 5 deadline.
A
school district which fails to comply with the provisions of A.C.A. §6-13-629 and the
