The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is pleased to share exciting news regarding the contract award for the innovative ATLAS K-3 Screener and K-2 Mathematics and Literacy Assessment System. We are proud to announce our partnership with Cambium Assessment System (CAI).

Starting in the fall of 2024, DESE, in collaboration with CAI, will introduce a comprehensive suite of assessments tailored for schools. This includes a beginning-of-year literacy screener, diagnostic testlets, and interim and summative assessments for both literacy and mathematics. We believe this initiative will significantly enhance the overall assessment experience for students and educators alike, creating a seamless and integrated system spanning kindergarten through high school.

It is worth noting that CAI is the current provider for the ATLAS 3-10 summative assessment, scheduled for administration during the window of April 15 to May 24, 2024. This continuity ensures a consistent and reliable assessment framework across grade levels.

To provide interested schools and districts with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the ATLAS K-3 Screener, we are offering a voluntary pilot program from May 1 to May 17, 2024. Your participation in this pilot will not only contribute to the refinement of the system but also allow your institution to explore the benefits firsthand.
