The Arkansas Behavior Support Specialists (BSS) affiliated with the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education - Office of Special Education (DESE-OSE) will be accepting applications for the fifth cohort of the BX3 (Behavior eXtreme 3 - Training, Coaching, Empowering) project.  This BX3 project is designed to build capacity by providing coaching to building-level behavior teams that are working to develop tiered systems of positive behavior supports for all students.

Arkansas Behavior Support Specialists will host an informational webinar on March 4, 2024, at 9:00 am to provide more details and answer questions.  The webinar will be recorded and posted on the Arkansas Behavior Support Specialists website.  Use the following zoom link to attend the informational webinar:

Meeting ID: 934 2658 4520
Passcode: 813928

This project will assist BX3 teams in developing and monitoring at least one SMART goal based on their assessment on the Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI) aimed at developing positive behavior supports.  Additionally, the BX3 team will create and update an action plan focused on meeting their individualized SMART goal(s). The BSS will offer at least 6 coaching sessions (one per month) for each BX3 team.  Professional learning opportunities will be offered as needed based on the SMART goal(s) and action plan.

Requirements for Participation in the BX3 Project:

  1. Have an established school building-level behavior team that meets at least monthly
  2. Have attended both days of the School-wide Positive Behavior Supports (SWPBS) training offered by Arkansas Behavior Support Specialists (BSS) by Sept 1, 2024.  (all team members are required to attend)  NOTE: Your local BSS can help your team locate upcoming training dates and locations.
  3. Have submitted signed "Letter of Understanding" (provided in the application)

Expectations for participation (if selected):

  • Attend a 1-day regional kickoff meeting where teams will assess their current level of tiered positive behavior supports by completing the Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI).
  • Develop and monitor progress of at least one SMART goal related to tiered positive behavior supports.
  • Create and update an action plan focused on meeting SMART goal(s).
  • Participate in monthly coaching sessions with Behavior Support Specialists (BSS) in the 24-25 school year with an option to continue into the following school year(s).  The BSS will offer at least 6 coaching sessions (one per month for 2-3 hours) for each BX3 team.  All team members will be expected to attend each monthly coaching session unless other plans are made with BSS coaches.
  • Hold independent monthly behavior team meetings (in addition to coaching sessions with BSS).

Schools that wish to participate in the BX3 project for the 2024-25 school year should submit this application, completed by a building principal, no later than 4:30PM on Friday, March 15, 2024. Applications will be reviewed, and teams will be notified by March 29, 2024, if they are selected to participate in the next step of the application process.  Selected teams will participate in a virtual interview with Arkansas Behavior Support Specialists to clarify BX3 Project goals and discuss how this project aligns with their schools' needs and current initiatives.  School teams selected for participation in the BX3 project will be notified by April 18, 2024, with next steps and additional details.  Cohort 5 will begin in September 2024.

Arkansas BSS have provided an informational video for more details.  A Google form is available for interested applicants to ask questions.
