The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is pleased to announce
that a total of $5,200,000 will be awarded to 26 new out-of-school time programs through the
Federal Title IV-Part B, Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant. Awards
are based on a competitive grant application process.
The 26 new centers will bring the total
number of centers throughout the state to 102. The total allocation for the 2025-2026 school year
will be $15,804,500.
The Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC grant provides financial support for the creation or expansion of
community learning centers that provide academic enrichment during non-school hours for children. These programs help
students meet state and local standards in core academic subjects, such as reading, literacy, math,
and science; offer students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular
academic programs; and offer literacy and other educational services to the families of participating
children.
