The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education is
providing information for a new Paraprofessional Praxis® test update.
The ParaPathways Praxis® is split into two separately timed subtests:
- 5758: Reading & Writing with a cut score of 324
- 5759: Mathematics with a cut score of 325
The ParaPathways Praxis®
will be available effective September 1, 2025.
The previous Parapro (1755)
Praxis® will continue to be available until August 31, 2026, giving test takers
the choice of test version.
All Title I Paraprofessionals who provide instructional
support, or those who work in a Targeted Assisted building paid (all or in part)
with Title I funds are required to meet highly qualified guidelines as
outlined in Section 1111(g)(2)(m) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
(ESEA):
- Obtain an associates (or higher) degree; OR
- Earned a minimum of 60 college credit hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education; OR
- Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness). In Arkansas, the formal test accepted is the Educational Testing Services (ETS) Parapro (1755) or Parapathways (5757) and obtain the following passing scores:
The ParaPathways Praxis®
will replace the Parapro (1755) Praxis® on August 31, 2026. Until
August 31, 2026 either test version will be accepted for highly qualified
guidelines.
