This once-in-a-generation exhibition brings together historic documents, American art, and cultural traditions to help students explore how the story of the United States has been told and remembered over time. Students will encounter rare historical materials, including one of the earliest engravings of the Declaration of Independence, alongside objects and artworks that reflect key moments, symbols, and voices in American history. During the exhibition, quilters will be working live in the galleries, giving students the opportunity to see how American craft traditions continue today and how quilts have long been used to tell stories about community, history, and identity. Through guided discussion and interactive experiences, students strengthen skills in history, literacy, observation, and critical thinking while connecting their classroom learning to real objects and stories.
