The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is pleased to continue its partnership with The Writing Revolution (TWR) to offer statewide professional learning focused on strengthening writing instruction aligned to the Science of Reading.
For the 2026–2027 school year, DESE will provide access to The Hochman Method training through fully virtual, synchronous cohorts at no cost to districts. This opportunity is available to educators across content areas, including teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators.
High-Quality Professional Learning Opportunity
Participants may enroll in one of the following options:
- Grades K–2: 8 hours of live virtual training
- Grades 3–12: 12 hours of live virtual training
Training is delivered via Zoom, with multiple cohort options available throughout the year to support flexible scheduling.
What Participants Receive
Through DESE’s partnership with TWR, participants will receive access to a comprehensive membership, including:
- Access to session recordings and ongoing implementation resources
- Access to TWR tools and supports, including MyTWR resources
- Live virtual training sessions with opportunities for interaction and support
- A copy of The Writing Revolution 2.0

District Expectations
Participating districts agree to:
- Enroll educators and ensure participation in selected cohorts
- Support implementation of TWR strategies during the 2026–2027 school year
- Ensure participants attend all required training sessions (8 or 12 hours; up to 3 hours may be made up via recordings)
- Support completion of required surveys at post-training, 6-month, and 12-month intervals
Enrollment Information
Districts will enroll participants through the DESE MOU and enrollment form.
- Each submission may include up to 20 participants
- Districts may submit the form multiple times to enroll additional participants
- Enrollment is first-come, first-served, and cohorts will fill quickly
- Educators may select the cohort that best fits their schedule, and participants from the same district are not required to enroll in the same cohort.
