Memo Text

Due to the impact of COVID-19 on the current school year, the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has modified the 2020-2021 Final Testing Calendar to support districts in the implementation of safety measures for state testing.

The updated spring testing dates in this Commissioner’s Memo supersede the spring testing dates in Commissioner’s Memo LS-20-106.

All state testing will be administered on-site for the spring of 2021.  The safety of students and staff has been, and will remain, the highest priority during testing. DESE is providing districts multiple flexibilities to assist with maintaining a safe testing environment including extending testing windows, flexible scheduling options, and expanding testing cohorts to allow for smaller testing groups at specific times.  Additional information regarding specific flexibilities offered can be found in the attached document, “Summative Assessment Flexibilities for 2021.”

The updated attached spring calendar includes the required assessments for grades K–12.  All state testing must take place during these dates.
