All Child Nutrition Managers and Directors in Arkansas
school districts that participate in the National School Lunch Program and are
paid from the non-profit food service account are required to be certified by
the Child Nutrition Unit of the Arkansas Department of Education.
Managers must complete Culinary Directions Part 1 and
Part 2 to be eligible for certification after one year of on-the-job training
and the recommendation of their immediate supervisor. See the attached General Information for
Manager Certification Training for more details.
Directors must complete Culinary Directions Part 1, Part
2, Directors Training, and at least three digital learning workshops during
their one year of on-the-job training to be eligible for certification with a
recommendation from their immediate supervisor.
Directors must maintain at least 12 hours of professional development
annually to maintain their director certification.
The 2022 Child Nutrition Culinary Directions Parts 1 and
2 will be held at Conway Junior High School, 1815 Prince Street, Conway,
Arkansas. Culinary Directions Part 1
must be completed prior to starting Part 2.
Culinary
Directions Part 1 and Part 2 will each be one-week sessions:
Session A: June 6-10,
2022
Session B: June 13-17,
2022
Both Culinary Directions Part 1 and 2 participants will
have prerequisites to the on-site program.
The participant will receive a list of required prerequisites once the
registration process is complete. These
prerequisites must be completed and certificates of completion turned in no
later than May 23, 2022. Candidates will
not be accepted into the on-site class if the prerequisites are not complete.
The Arkansas School
Nutrition Association (ASNA) offers scholarships to cover the cost of Culinary
Directions Part 1 or Part 2 registration for ASNA members. Scholarship checks are distributed at
registration. The scholarship
application is attached or available on the ASNA website at www.arsna.org. The
application deadline for the ASNA Scholarship is April 15, 2022.

The deadline for registering for Culinary Directions Part
1 and 2 is April 20, 2022.
Please register as soon as possible as space is limited. Each session will be filled as the
registration is processed. Once a
session is full, participants will be assigned to the open session.
